Barry’s Public House to host RTE’s Radio 1 Céilí House live on Saturday 7th Nov.
Céilí House is one of RTÉ Radio’s most popular programmes of traditional Irish music and song. You can join in the enjoyment every Saturday night as presenter Kieran Hanrahan and producer Peter Browne travel the length and breadth of Ireland and beyond, in search of a good session to bring each week to the many loyal listeners. Featured Musicians this weekend in Grange are from the Band Spraoi.
Spraoi are 2009 Siansa Gael Linn winners ,this is the most prestigious award for young traditional Irish bands and after 3 rounds of competition with over 60 entries countrywide Spraoi were judged the 2009 winners in front of a packed University Theatre Hall in Limerick which witnessed the final 8 bands do battle last April .Since their award Spraoi have performed at Aras an Uachtaran ,The All Ireland Fleadh , The Oireachtas and Sligo Live .They will play support for Teada next January at The Temple Bar Trad fest among other appearances. The group members are Niamh Farrell (vocals &flute ),Lillian Harris (Fiddle ), Lydia Warnock (Fiddle ) Ted Kelly (Banjo & Mandolin ),Jos Kelly (Accordion & Piano), Elsa Kelly ( Harp &Flute ), Paddy Hazelton (Percussion & Bodhran) .This Saturday at Barry’s Public House Music Venue In Grange the RTE programme Ceili House will be broadcast live, Spraoi will be joined by Colm & Denis Regan(Accordions ) ,Declan Courell (Guitar& Vocals), Kerry Herrity (Banjo),Kenny Donagher (Accordion) ,Eamon & Catherine Bell (Fiddle & Flute) ,Alex Kelly(Concertina) & Sean Farrell (Guitar) for a great night of music celebrating their achievement and traditional irish music in north Sligo.
Tickets are free but booking is advised by ringing 071 9173111 doors open at 8.15pm
