As a city, Sligo has long been established as a centre for the Arts and for Culture. It is also however, home to countless artisan natural food producers, World-Class restaurants, a vibrant cafe culture, an array of gourmet food outlets, a thriving Farmer’s Market, and a general and widespread appreciation for excellent food amongst its citizens.
Though currently host to numerous festivals throughout the year, most notably Sligo Live, Cairde, and the Sligo Jazz Festival, none of these festivals currently showcase and exploit the wealth of excellent food producers and providers available in the region. Nor do they highlight the rich historical inheritance that the county of Sligo is so fortunate to have, in the form of our Country Houses & Estates, whose gastronomic efforts rival those at the highest level of the food world.
That is, until now.
Welcome to SÓ Sligo, a Food & Cultural Festival to be held in Sligo City & County on the weekend of March 19th-21st 2010.
