Jack, Ned and Mona Shea live on the family farm in Feloree. One spring morning, Jack, a hitherto confirmed bachelor, announces that he wants to get married to much disgust and disapproval from Ned and Mona. Jack enlists the help of the local curate and other local characters to assist him in finding a wife. Before long, Ned and Mona see Jack’s ambition as a way out for themselves and with emotions running high, the Feloree Fever hits town for the first time in nearly 50 years, contagious and uncontrollable, with hilarious consequences.
The Feloree Fever was written by Pat O’Dea and is as yet unpublished. It was given to The Grange Players by kind permission from the author and is set to go into Irish comedy drama history as a classic. The characters are lovable and good-natured and the circumstances that evolve throughout the play lend themselves to some of the funniest scenes ever seen in Grange Hall. Come early in the run because, in all probability, you will want to return to see it again to catch up on the bits you missed while laughing!
Paddy Davis formed the Grange Players in 2006, after the long-running Grange Dramatic Society was disbanded. Its numbers are made up of crew from the old Dramatic Society, as well as a few newcomers to the boards. Since 2006 the Grange Players have been entertaining local audiences with their interpretations of well known dramas such as “A Crucial Week in the Life of Grocer’s Assistant” and “Many Young Men of Twenty”.
The Feloree Fever is directed and produced by Paddy Davis and opens in Grange Hall on Friday, February 19th and continues through to Sunday 21st. It will re-open on Thurs 25th , Sat 27th and Sun 28th of Feb. (Note: there will be no showing on Friday 26th )
This is one show not to be missed guaranteeing the audience a collection of drama, humour and plenty of laughter.
