Source Sligo – a brand new concept for Sligo Town – will open its doors to the public this Friday December 17th. Split over three levels and situated in a landmark building on John Street, Source consists of a Restaurant, Wine Bar & Cookery School (see overleaf for details).
THE OPENING – FRIDAY 17TH
We welcome everyone to drop in through- out the day and browse the three stories of Source where you can sample some of the fine local produce, watch or take part in a cookery demonstration, or sink into a cosy armchair while enjoying the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle on O’Connell Street.
JOIN US IN THE EVENING FROM 6pm FOR A GLASS OF MULLED WINE WITH A GREAT LINE UP OF LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT!
Delight in the sumptuous and velvety tones of the female singing group from Dromahair, ‘Raw Chocolate’, enjoy the short and quirky one act by local theatre artists Fiona McGeown and Ciaran McCauley, specially commisioned for you by Source and watch a spectacular fire throwing display from the beautiful landmark building of Source.
SOURCE ETHOS
The Source ethos is simple: To provide honest and wholesome food sourced from local suppliers who care as deeply about the food they produce as we do about how it is prepared, cooked and served. Luckily for us, we live in a unique place such as Sligo where we have access to organic vegetables, locally caught seafood and locally farmed meat.
THE RESTAURANT
At The Restaurant in Source we aim to showcase the best local produce available in Sligo and the north west. Through our own planting of seasonal produce and our relationship with the growers and producers in the north west we can source the best produce on offer. Our food is not pretentious, it’s not fussy… it’s food created by food lovers for lovers of food. Our food is Irish, classic and contemporary.
THE WINE BAR
Our Wine Bar is situated on the second floor of Source, from its comfortable surroundings our customers will be able to enjoy beautiful wine produced from our very own vineyards in the Languedoc region in the south of France. The wine bar will also serve a more informal menu than our restaurant so you can still enjoy the wonderful food created by our chefs at Source.
THE COOKERY SCHOOL
Our Cookery School is a natural extension of the Source concept. We want the cookery school to build on the quality produced in the restaurant so that people can learn to cook beautiful meals using locally grown resources. The school sits on the top floor of the building and permits beautiful views over O’Connell Street in Sligo to Benbulben. We offer a variety of cooking classes that will cater for all tastes and open up cooking to everyone, from masterchefs to those who can’t boil an egg. The 2011 Cookery School Calendar features courses as diverse as ‘Basic Bread Skills’, ‘Cookery for Teenagers’, ‘Men in the Kitchen’, ‘Growing Your Own Organic Produce’ and ‘New Year, New You’ – there is something that caters for everyone.
