Gathering for the Business of Fun: AOIFE Conference 2012 (8-9 November)

The Gathering for the Business of Fun Conference will be held on the 8th & 9th of November in the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe in association with Fáilte Ireland and the Gathering 2013. This is the definitive festival and events conference with streams that will cover all aspects of producing successful festivals and events. This is where the art, people and business of festivals and events converge.

If you are in the events industry, a supplier to the busy festival sector, a performer, a professional event or festival producer or indeed an academic or student in the field – “The Gathering for the Business of Fun Conference” is the place to be this year.

This year’s conference will be held in conjunction with the International Festival and Events Association Europe (IFEA) which will offer Irish festival and event producer’s valuable opportunities to exchange notes and ideas with their European counterparts, on the season just gone and the year ahead.

Speakers will cover a range of areas from generating sponsorship and commercial revenue to marketing communications, collaboration and partnerships and social media well as the practicalities of running festivals and quality events. Speakers from the worlds of local authorities, Sponsorship, Marketing, Social Media, and successful Festivals and Events have been confirmed with many more to follow.

Within the conference programme there will be a dedicated stream on social media aimed at highlighting the many opportunities for quality communications, audience development and engagement through this new medium.

The conference also serves as a showcase for bands, acts, artists and performers, bringing a huge element of fun to the two day event. Suppliers to the sector will be able to meet event organisers through the Festive Expo – which runs alongside.

Each year the Carlton Best of Marketing Awards acknowledge the quality of work carried out by organisers in the industry.

With many existing festivals and events throughout the country it is hoped that a good representation will emerge and that all Festivals and Events will have their best marketing materials submitted for the All Ireland Carlton Best of Marketing Awards. There is no entry free and submissions deadline is the 12th of October.

This is the Association of Irish Festival Events’ (AOIFE) 19th Annual Conference, taking place on the 8th & 9th of November.
