The camps will be based at the Institute of Technology Sligo and participants can choose from either a morning or evening three day camp. This is an ideal opportunity for young enthusiastic cyclists aged over 8 years to learn the basics of cycling from qualified cycling coaches. Bike maintenance, road safety and a cycling skills incorporating pedalling, balancing, braking and cornering will all form part of the programme.
The Easter Cycling Camps will provide ideal preparation for the An Post Tour of Sligo Family Fun Day which takes place on Saturday 4th May. The Family Fun Day was introduced as part of the overall An Post Tour in 2012 and it proved a huge success with over 500 children and parents involved in the 10K Hazelwood Spin. A 2K Bike Trail has been introduced for 2013 in the grounds of the IT Sligo. Also, there will also be lots of entertainment on the day including a spectacular acrobatic show, cycling side shows, BMX display and cycling skills challenge.
The An Post Tour Family Fun Day is supported by Sligo Borough Council 4.5.8 committee while refreshments on the day will also be provided by Good 4 U.
Meanwhile, entries from all over the country are being received on a daily basis from cyclists for the An Post Tour 60k/ 100k/ 160k. Early interest levels indicate that the An Post Tour of Sligo will have record entries in 2013.
As the number of participants is capped at 2000 all intending cyclists are encouraged to register well in advance for the event. The Friends of Sligo Regional Hospital are the worthy charity for the 2013 Tour.
