Rough Draft is a day-long design and new media conference being held on November 7th in The Glass House Hotel, Sligo. Organised by members of the local design community, the event is set to bring inspirational stories from the county and country to the broad creative audience in the region.
It is organised as part of Design Week 2013, and will be the first Design Week event in Sligo. The conference will feature twelve speakers from the design and new media industry giving inspiring stories about their successes and failures in past projects.
Key speakers have been selected from various design trades throughout Ireland, and Rough Draft is being organised free of charge for attendees. Attendance is limited to 150 people total, and pre-booking is recommended. A full list of speakers and details about attendance will be released through the website (roughdraft.eu) or through the conference’s social media pages (facebook.com/roughdraft.eu | @roughdraftsligo).
As with all areas of creative industries, Sligo has a rich background in design. We have selected a range of speakers, many of whom have a connection to Sligo, and all of whom have been involved in the design process at some level from conception to completion. Local speakers will include graphic designer Amy West, product designers Vincent Naughton and Michael Nugent, and event and creative managers Denise Rushe and Aoife Flynn. Our keynote speakers are Richard Seabrooke and Bren Byrne of the annual OFFSET festival, which brings creative speakers from all over the world to Dublin each year. More speakers will be announced through online media as the date approaches.
Organisers of the one-day event say that design is a broad remit, and have invited speakers from backgrounds as diverse as graphic design, web design, visual art, digital media design, event/creative management, product design and Android development.
Tickets are free and early booking is advised via the booking link: roughdraft2013.eventbrite.ie/
