The Hawk’s Well Theatre is delighted to announce that Rachel Allen will give a cookery demonstration at the Theatre on Saturday 14th of June at 8pm. Rachel has become a well-known figure in the food world with her bestselling cookery books, television programmes and food writing. Rachel’s style of cooking is above all practical – simple but delicious food, ideal for family and friends. Her influences are both regional and global. The BBC describe her as an “Irish cooking queen” and Good Food magazine believe she “has put Irish cooking on the map in recent years.” Audience members will be invited to attend a wine reception at 7pm before the show which Rachel will attend. Rachel’s cookery demonstration at the Hawk’s Well takes place during the Só Sligo Food Festival which runs from Wed 11th to Sat the 15th of June.
Rachel Allen was brought up in Dublin and left home to study at the Ballymaloe Cookery School. After graduating she worked in the kitchens at Ballymaloe House. Rachel is now a busy TV chef, author, journalist, mother, and teacher and continues to work at the cookery school where she found her passion for teaching.
Rachel’s first book, Rachel’s Favourite Food, was published in 2004 alongside a television series of the same name. Twelve further books have been published, including Bake, Home Cooking, Cake and most recently Everyday Kitchen, each with an accompanying television series. Her popular television series for RTE and the BBC have been broadcast internationally, airing in 37 countries around the world.
Rachel is columnist and contributor to a number of Irish publications, including The Sunday Independent magazine. Rachel will sign copies of her book after the performance.
