Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week, an annual campaign to encourage cleaning up the Irish coastline, is taking place from the 10th to the 17th of May 2013. Thousands of coastal custodians around Ireland will be participating in the fourth annual Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week which is part of An Taisce’s Clean Coasts programme. The week is a celebration of the coast and emphasises the important role that we can all play, and are playing, in conserving our marine environment.
Events being held in Sligo as part of Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week include:

- 12th May @ 6pm – Coastal Theme film night taking p
lace in the Model Arts Centre, Sligo. A number of films will be shown including the Norwegian Surf movie ‘North of the Sun’ and Easkey Britton’s ‘Surf in Iran’. Drinks will be provided on the night and there will free draw for all those in attendance.
“Coca-Cola Clean Coasts Week forms a key part of the Clean Coasts program which has been running for a decade now,” said Pat Oliver, Director, Environmental Education Unit, An Taisce. “In that time, 1,111,682 pieces of litter have been removed from the Irish coastline thanks to 300 coastcare groups made up of 10, 456 volunteers taking part in a phenomenal 3,165 in the last ten years. This year we are hoping to stage Ireland’s biggest ever clean up and we’re mobilising communities in every coastal region to come out and take part in this special celebratory event.”
