County Sligo Youth Theatre present Sean O’Casey’s “The Shadow of a Gunman”, March 28-30th

poster
County Sligo Youth Theatre is very proud and excited to present “The Shadow of a Gunman” by Sean O’Casey

A poignantly comic and ultimately tragic play, set in the tenements of Dublin during the Irish War of Independence. The residents of an overcrowded slum house show wry wit and human warmth, while the notorious Black and Tans prowl around the streets at night. A young poet, Donal Davoren, finds himself the victim of mistaken identity as an IRA gunman. The notoriety of being “on the run” becomes an attractive deception, especially when it enhances the affections of his lovely neighbour, Minnie Powell. But at what cost?

Directed by Jean-Marie Perinetti
Set and Lighting design : Michael Cummins
Costume design : Lucie O’Hara

Her contemporary interpretations of Irish folk songs, strongly influenced by American country music have captivated listeners for years.
